Troy police probe overnight shootings
TROY — City police responded to two separate shooting incidents overnight. No connection has been made between them.
Police received a number of 911 calls reporting a shooting at a residence on 8th Street near Hoosick Street just before 11 p.m. Friday. Officers found a woman with a gunshot wound to her neck. She was treated by city firefighters and taken to a hospital where she was in stable condition.
On Saturday morning, authorities charged her husband, Tyriq L. Mansell, 26, with attempted murder, weapon possession, assault, criminal use of a firearm and endangering the welfare of a child, police said. He was arraigned and jailed.
In another case, police received a 911 call at 12:45 a.m. Saturday about a shooting at a banquet hall on 309 Third Ave. in Lansingburgh. As they arrived, officers found a large crowd leaving a party there and learned a man attending the function was shot in the torso.
He was treated at the scene by city firefighters and taken to a hospital where he is in stable condition. Evidence technicians and detectives are investigating the case. No arrests have been made.
