Hogg scores five goals to lead UAlbany past rival Stony Brook on home field
Graydon Hogg scored five goals and Camden Hay added three goals to lead University at Albany men’s lacrosse to a 12-10 win over Stony Brook on Saturday at Tom and Mary Casey Stadium in Albany.
The game marked the final time the long-time rivals will face each other in an America East Conference regular-season game. Stony Brook is leaving the America East at the end of the season to join the Colonial Athletic Association.
The Danes (2-5, 1-1) snapped a three-game losing streak.
With Stony Brook rallying, Hogg scored two goals and Hay added another as UAlbany padded its lead to 12-8 with 2:14 left.
Hay and Corey Yunker scored back to back to give UAlbany an 8-2 lead, its largest of the game, early in the third quarter, but the Seawolves scored three straight goals to pull within 9-7 with 8:19 to play.
Tommy Heller made 12 saves to earn the win.
Hogg scored two goals in the first half and UAlbany ended the half on a 3-0 run to give UAlbany a 6-1 lead at halftime.
Dylan Pallonetti and Mike McCannell each had three goals for Stony Brook (5-4, 1-1).
