Engineer branches out
What do you do if you are 10 months shy of putting in 30 years with General Electric but are suddenly laid off ? Finding himself in such a predicament was Eugene A. Wright, GE’s resident manager at the Malta Test Station.
Wright knew the Malta site inside out, and when he was laid off, decided to pursue a new approach to his career doing what he knew best: scientific research and development at the test site. With a group of similar former employees, he took over the old installation. Wright-Malta was incorporated Jan. 24. A week later, he reported to work back at the station, this time as head of his own company. He sub-leased the site from GE, which leased the station from the state’s Atomic and Space Development Authority.
