Graham, Gwenlyn (LaRoy)

COLONIE — Gwenlyn (LaRoy) Graham of Colonie, passed away on March 19, 2022, at the age of 93. Gwen was born and grew up in Jamestown, N.Y., and lived in the Albany area for many years. Gwen put herself through Geneseo State Teachers College and received a degree in library science. In 1952, she left her career to marry Wilson Graham, stationed in England with the Air Force. They had two children, and designed and built seven homes together.

Gwen is survived by a son and daughter; her grandson and his wife; and three greatgrandchildren.

In her early years, Gwen was a weekly bowler, and later enjoyed yoga. She was an avid pinochle and bridge player. She was a Girl Scout leader, treasurer for the North Greenbush Town Library, and created the resident list for her town’s 911 system. As a master gardener she was on the board of the Federated Garden Club’s Third District. As an awardwinning flower arranger she was active in presenting Albany’s Tulip and Christmas Greens Flower Shows. For many years she managed the residents’ garden plots at the Beltrone Living Center. There will be no viewing. Gwen has donated her body to the Albany Medical College Anatomical Gift Program. There will be a private memorial.
