ALBANY — Wayne P. Morris, 70, the beloved husband of Cathy Corbo, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022, after a sudden, brief illness in Florida.

He was born in Brooklyn, and was the son of Thomas and Anna Morris. He enjoyed many activities such as golfing, horse racing, movies (he was a movie buff), music, theatre, travel, exercising at the Guilderland YMCA and was a diehard Mets fan. He was a longtime employee of the Albany City School District and later worked tirelessly for the children of Albany as a Board of Education member.

Wayne was a warm, personable, kind person and had a true interest and curiosity about people no matter where he went. For him there were no strangers, only friends he hadn’t met yet. In addition to his wife, Cathy, Wayne is survived by his brothers, John Morris (Marie), Thomas Morris (Maryann), and Richard Morris; and sisters, Alice Boster (Carl), and Judy Pepe (Micheal). He is also survived by his father-in-law, Michael Corbo; and sisters-in-law, Carolyn Buckridge (Steve), and Jeanmarie Shea (Dan). Wayne is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly and enjoyed spending time with. He is also survived by his lifelong friend, Roderick "Mac" McElroy, whom he considered another brother. Wayne was predeceased by his sister, Louise; and his brother, Robert Morris.

Friends and family may call on Monday, March 28, from 4-7 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 29, at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 20 Sumter Ave., Albany. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens, 983 Watervliet Shaker Road, Albany. Wayne was a fortunate recipient of a liver transplant in May 2003, which allowed him 19 plus years to enjoy the things that mattered most in life: the family and friends that he cherished. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Wayne’s name to the Center for Donation and Transplant, 218 Great Oaks Blvd., Albany, NY, 12205.
