Cold returning to region

- By Kathleen Moore

Much colder weather — and some slight snow — is coming to the Capital Region over the next three days.

On Saturday night, rain could turn to snow, said National Weather Service meteorologist Tom Wasula. The low temperature will be in the lower 30s, he said.

But it won’t be much snow, if it happens.

“Some of the grassy surfaces could get a light coating of snow,” he said.

On Sunday, there could be more snow.

“Sunday night is the chilliest in this stretch, snow showers or flurries, lows in the mid teens,” he said.

It will be windy as well, with wind at 10 to 15 miles per hour and gusts of 30 miles per hour.

The Albany County Hilltowns could get half an inch of snow, but the Capital Region should expect a coating of less than half an inch, he said.

The weather isn’t expected to get better Monday.

“Monday looks blustery but cold, highs in mid 20s,” he said. “The normal high this time of year is usually right around 50. So it will be cold.”
