Danes rally to conference win

Falk, Sancillo, Pascale score late as visitors reverse two-goal deficit

UAlbany scored four unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to rally past Vermont 12-10 on Saturday in an America East Conference women’s lacrosse clash in Burlington, Vt.

Kathryn Sancillo snapped a 10-10 deadlock with 3 minutes, 36 seconds left in the fourth to put the Great Danes in front for good. Katie Pascale sent home an unassisted tally with 1:51 remaining to seal the victory for UAlbany.

The Great Danes found themselves down 10-8 to start the final period before goals by Sancillo and Sarah Falk had evened the matchup with just more than seven minutes to go.

Falk finished with five goals and an assist and Pascale had two goals and three assists to lead UAlbany, which climbed to 4-6 overall but more importantl­y 2-0 in the America East.

Ava Vasile scored three times and had an assist for Vermont, which dipped to 8-3 and 1-2 in league play.

The Great Danes remain on the road and travel to Durham, N.H., on Wednesday to take on New Hampshire in another key America East Conference contest.
