Need to paint got house projects rolling
There’s a classic children’s book called “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.” You may be surprised to learn that the story revolves around what happens if you give a mouse a cookie.
That simple act sets off a chain of events that ends (spoiler alert) with the mouse wanting another cookie. The following is offered with apologies to the book’s author, Laura Joffe Numeroff.
If you live in a house during a pandemic, you’re going to have a lot of time to stare at the walls. Staring at those walls will make you realize they could use some paint. Thinking about sprucing up your home with paint is exciting, so you decide to start in the living room because it’s the leastused room in your house and will go largely unseen in your daily life. You realize this makes no sense but a lot of things haven’t made sense lately, so you decide to roll with it.
The idea of rolling with it makes you think of a paint roller, which is something you have used before and, based on the results, have been asked never to use again. So you decide to call a professional painter. Calling a professional painter brings the sound of laughter to your ears, which sounds nice until you realize that it’s because the painters are booking into the next year. Other people who lived in their houses during a pandemic spent less time staring at walls before deciding to paint them and are ahead of you in line. You think that’s still better than painting them yourself, so you go to the end of the line and wait your turn. While you’re waiting your turn for the painter, you realize that you might as well have them paint the foyer and family room while they’re at it.
Calling all those painters makes you tired, so you lie down to take a rest. While you’re lying down, you look at the ceiling and wonder if it’s just your imagination or have the water stains been getting bigger. So you make some more calls and find a contractor who is willing to fix your ceiling.
