Campana’s hat trick leads Miami past Revolution

Late goal lifts Miami to its first win of the season

Leonardo Campana scored a goal in the 88th minute to finish off a hat trick, leading Inter Miami to its first win of the MLS season with a 3-2 victory over the New England Revolution on Saturday.

Campana scored the game-winner for Inter Miami (1-4-1) from in front of the net after Revolution keeper Brad Knighton bobbled a shot by Bryce Duke.

Justin Rennicks took a crossing pass from DeJuan Jones and scored in the 11th minute to stake the Revolution (1-4-1) to a 1-0 lead.

Campana pulled Miami even when he headed in a cross from Ariel Lassiter in the 17th minute. Miami grabbed a 2-1 lead when Campana took a pass from Robbie Robinson and drilled a shot just under the crossbar.

Carles Gil scored on a penalty kick in the 67th minute to knot the score at 2.

Montreal 2, New York 1:

Romell Quioto scored into an empty net in the 81st minute and CF Montreal rallied late to defeat the New York Red Bulls. Quioto netted the game-winner for Montreal (2-3-1) when he stole the ball from Carlos Coronel after catching the Red Bulls keeper way out in front of the net trying to clear the ball. Omir Fernandez staked New York (3-2-1) to a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 14th minute. The lead held until Rudy Camacho pulled Montreal even with a goal in the 71st minute.

LA 2, LAFC 1: Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez and Sega Coulibaly scored in the first half and the LA Galaxy ended LAFC’s unbeaten start to the season. The Galaxy (4-2-0) continued their success in the city rivalry known as El Trafico, improving to 6-2-5 in the series. They have never lost at home in seven meetings (50-2), taking maximum points every time they have scored at least two goals. Cristian Arango scored for LAFC (4-1-1), which had won three straight games by two-goal margins.

Nashville 2, Kansas City 1:

C.J. Sapong scored a goal in the 68th minute to spark Nashville to a victory over Sporting Kansas City. Alex Muyl had an assist on Sapong’s gamewinner for Nashville (3-2-1). Orlando 1, Chicago 0: Ercan Kara scored a second-half goal to lead Orlando City to a victory over the Chicago Fire in MLS action. Kara’s game-winner came in the 59th minute, securing the win for Orlando (3-2-2). Alexandre Pato had an assist on the goal.

Philadelph­ia 1, Columbus 0: Eloy Room’s own goal and Andre Blake’s five saves led the Philadelph­ia Union to a victory over the Columbus Crew. Room’s game-winner came in the second minute to secure the win for the Union.

Dallas 3, Colorado 1: Jesus Ferreira scored a pair of firsthalf goals to spark FC Dallas to a victory over the Colorado Rapids.

Houston 4, San Jose 3: Sebastian Ferreira scored a goal in each half to propel the Houston Dynamo to a victory over the San Jose Earthquake­s.

Salt Lake 2, Toronto2: Jayden Nelson scored his first MLS goal to help Toronto earn a draw with Real Salt Lake.
