Myerson blasts Nixon policies
Bess Myerson, commissioner of New York City Office of Consumer Affairs, charged the Nixon administration of “many unkept promises” and “outright lies” where consumer protection was concerned. Addressing the 21st annual political conference of the women’s division of the Democratic State Committee in Albany, Myerson held the president responsible for the destruction of consumer bills on class action, formation of a federal consumer agency, consumer safety and truth in packaging, labeling and advertising. She shared the podium with Reps. Bella S. Abzug, Shirley Chisholm, Edward Koch and Ogden Reid.
