Danes pull away in the fourth

-

Sarah Falk scored five goals and Katie Pascale added four more as the University at Albany women pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat Maryland-Baltimore County 13-9 in an America East Conference lacrosse game in Baltimore.

The Great Danes (6-6, 4-0 America East) took the lead for good early in the second half, but didn’t put away the Retrievers until Pascale scored twice in a span of 1 minute, 11 seconds and Falk added an insurance goal with more than three minutes left.

Katherine Chiarella and Aislinn Sweeney combined to make 15 saves for UAlbany while Lexi Roberts made seven stops for the Retrievers (7-7, 1-3).

Claire Bockstie scored five goals for UMBC and now leads the league with 56 goals.

Bockstie scored back-toback goals in the first five minutes of the game, but UAlbany scored seven unanswered goals, including three straight from Falk, to start the run.

UMBC responded with five straight goals, two from Bockstie, to tie the game early in the third quarter, but the stalemate did not last long as Allie Maloney and Pascale scored 41 seconds apart to give UAlbany the lead for good.
