Guilderland captures title
Voorheesville takes 1st among small schools at Bethlehem girls’ meet
Guilderland won first place for large schools and Voorheesville took home the top spot among the smaller schools at the Lady Eagles Invitational girls’ track and field meet on Saturday in Bethlehem.
Guilderland topped the field with 186 points, while Shenendehowa was second (149) and host Bethlehem placed third (94) among the large schools. Shaker’s Kaleigh Higgins won both the 1,000 (3 minutes, 2.66 seconds) and 1,500 (4:45.96) and Mohonasen’s Zionna PerezTucker had the top times in the 100 (12.25) and 200 (25.41) to
highlight the individual performances for the large schools.
The Blackbirds won the small-school crown with 149 points, Ichabod Crane grabbed second place (132) and Albany Academy rounded out the top three (90).
Erin Boler of Albany Academy won the 3,000 (10:32.03) and 2,000 steeplechase (7:35.03) to lead the individual performances for the smaller schools.
Baseball: Tyler Sears homered twice, one a grand slam, and drove in nine runs as Tamarac crushed Stillwater 19-2 in Wasaren League action. James Blake also homered and knocked in four runs for the Bengals. Peyton Richardson allowed three hits and no earned runs, striking out nine to earn the win.
Boys’ lacrosse: Somers defeated Guilderland 13-10 in a nonleague contest in Guilderland. Tommy Tyksinski scored six goals and Daniel Macchiarella had three assists to lead the Dutchmen.
