Watts lights up attack for Siena

Senior scores three goals to help lead Saints to a victory

Christian Watts struck 44 seconds into the game, Tyler Menniti added another goal five minutes later and the Siena men’s lacrosse team picked up an 11-8 nonleague victory over Holy Cross on Saturday in Worcester, Mass.

Holy Cross cut the lead to one in the first period on a goal by Baker Reding, but the Saints scored the next three to take a 5-1 lead after one quarter.

Watts, a senior, finished with three goals and an assist on the day as the Saints went up 11-5 going into the fourth quarter.

Chris Yanchoris stopped 13 shots to preserve the win. Dawson Friers stopped 13 shots for the Crusaders in the loss.

The Saints wrap up their regular season at home on Saturday against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference foe Quinnipiac. The game is set for a noon start at Hickey Field on the Siena campus.
