TROY — A kinder soul there has never been. Heaven is shining brighter with a new angel. Our beloved family member, wife, mom, grandmothe­r and friend, Mary Agnes Somerville, soared above on April 21, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born in Troy, to the late John and Mary McNamara. Mary was predecease­d by her siblings, Margaret Sheedy, Jack McNamara and William McNamara.

For many years, she worked as a stenograph­er, where she met Raymond at the N.Y.S. Department of Labor, her loving husband of 57 years.. All of her life was dedicated to family; beloved mother of four children, Lisa (Deb), Gary (Carrie), Erin and Brian (Jennifer). Mary is also survived by seven grandchild­ren, Alex (Morgan), Dylan, Brandon, Jordan, Aiden, Ethan and Liam, and many cherished nieces and nephews, as well as granddogs, Silas and her namesake, Agnes; and cats, especially her constant companion, Lemon.

Mary was a spirited Irishwoman with a great sense of humor, who enjoyed lively storytelli­ng, holidays, and her Roman Catholic faith (loyal parishione­r of St. Joseph’s Church)

Family and friends are invited and may call on Monday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Wm. Leahy Funeral Home, 336 3rd Street, Troy. Funeral procession will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday from the funeral home to St. Joseph’s Church where at 9:30 a.m. a funeral Mass will be celebrated, Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Troy.
