Honoring those who cultivate greatness through service to others
MEET THE VOLUNTEERS WHO MADE A DIFFERENCE IN 2021
Multiplying Good, formerly the Jefferson Awards Foundation, stands behind the power of service to others in bringing out the greatness that lies within us all. The American Institute for Public Service was created in 1972 by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, U.S. Senator Robert Taft Jr. and Sam Beard. The public foundation established the Jefferson Awards, a Nobel Prize for community and public service.
In 1977, the Jefferson Awards embarked on a media partnership with local newspapers and television stations to highlight community service. Now, Multiplying Good is the name of the organization that continues to work with media partners across the United States to build a coordinated community-wide endeavor to strengthen the spirit of volunteering and community service in local communities. This is the only local volunteer recognition program with a national component. The media partnership with WNYT News Channel 13; along with St. Peter’s Health Partners as the presenting sponsor, has been a mainstay in the Capital Region since 2003. Multiplying Good, continues this media partnership with local newspapers and television stations to highlight community service in America. Each year, one of the nominees is selected to represent the Capital Region at the National Celebration of Service event scheduled for June 21-23, 2022, in Indianapolis, Indiana. We are proud that we have selected, Amira Eltahir as our representative. Congratulations to Amira!
