30 Pine Tree Lane, Albany

- LEIGH HORNBECK

This week’s house is a Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired home built along a cul de sac in 1956. The builder was Lewis Swyer, an influential local developer whose company, L.A. Swyer Construction, built the amphitheater at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, the Ten Eyck Project, 1 Commerce Plaza and 80 State St. in Albany. Swyer’s widow lived in the house until 2018 and maintained it as a time capsule. Only the floors are new throughout. Features include cantilevered roofs, a party basement, two working fireplaces, a dozen closets, a bar, vaulted ceilings in almost every room, an open floor plan, a plethora of architectural details, picture windows throughout, and a beautiful garden with mature trees. The designer was Norbert Turkel, and the bones of the house were built to support a skyscraper. The house has 2,722 square feet of living space, five bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms. List price: $650,000. Taxes: $15,423. Contact seller at 518-807-4524.
