Townsend, Harold M. Jr.

BALLSTON SPA

— Harold M. Townsend Jr., was tragically taken from us on March 15, 2022, at the age of 72.

He was born in Ballston Spa on October 30, 1949, to Harold and Agnes Townsend Sr. He graduated from Burnt Hills Ballston Lake High School in 1967.

On November 27, 1971, he married Janet Bost. He served in the U.S. Army from 1972 - 1974, driving tanks in Korea and Fort Hood, Texas. When he returned home, he began his career at Pepsi Cola, working his way up from sweeping the back dock to service manager and later senior sales rep. He created many lasting friendships over his 43 years with the company.

Harold was an avid woodworker that built his own home, countless pieces of furniture, and would help out many members of the community with anything and everything they needed.

He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Agnes Townsend Sr.; brother, Alex Orzel; and daughter, Heather. Harold is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Janet Townsend. He will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Jason Townsend (Dawn) and Sean Townsend (Tammy); daughter, Sarah Grant (Ryan); cherished grandchildren, Milan and Makayla; brother, Peter Orzel; and several nieces and nephews.
