CLIFTON PARK — Sharon Anne Reider, 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on June 7, 2022.

She was born in Catalina, Calif. to her late parents, Stanley and Barbara (Silcox) Larson. She grew up in Jacksonville, Ore. on her family’s farm, where her love and appreciation for animals, specifically sheep and lambs, began. A 1961 Medford High School graduate, she fondly remembered her hometown in Oregon and often told childhood stories to her family.

In 1961, she met the love of her life, Robert Edward Reider, a city boy from New York who traveled west for work and adventure. Robert surely found life’s biggest adventure, Sharon and Robert shared 59 years of marriage together. After living for a short period in Oregon and in a New York City suburb, they planted their roots in Clifton Park, building their home in 1968.

For 53 years, she was a devoted member of Christ Community Reformed Church in Clifton Park. Her faith and family were the most important elements of her life, along with her sense for adventure. She enjoyed hiking and traveling with her husband, they frequented hiking trails in the Adirondacks, Berkshires, Green Mountains and Catskills. Together they became world and cross-country travelers; Sharon’s favorite destinations were the American National Parks, especially the Grand Tetons. When Sharon was not spending time with her family and friends, she found happiness in her stitch work: knitting, crocheting and quilting. Sharon also loved to read, enjoying a broad array of genres. One of her favorite authors was Louise Penny.
