Bologna hits milestone

Sophia Bologna scored 40 points to reach 1,000 for her career and rally Holy Names to a 62-54 win over Schenectad­y on Saturday in a girls’ basketball game at Holy Names.

Bologna scored 24 points in the second half, including 14 in the fourth quarter, as Holy Names outscored the Patriots 23-8 to pull away for the victory. Bologna reached 1,000 points with less than a minute to go in the game on a fast-break layup.

Jalyssa Terry scored 19 points and Jayda Palmer added 18 to lead the Patriots. Terry scored 15 points in the first quarter and Palmer tacked on 10 more in the second quarter as Schenectad­y built a 32-26 lead by halftime.

More girls’ basketball: Isabella Petrocci scored a game-high 25 points as Mohonasen cruised to a 58-40 win over Cobleskill in a Colonial Council matchup. Petrocci and Payton Whipple both nailed five 3-pointers. Whipple finished with 15 points.

Boys’ basketball: Albany Academy edged visiting Dwight School 63-56. Robert Chandler scored 23 points and Cyrus Matia added 12 to lead the Cadets . ... Haisi Mayben scored 30 points to lead Green Tech to a 94-87 overtime win against Amsterdam. Mayben also grabbed seven rebounds and had six assists and Ramere Brown chipped in with 25 points and nine rebounds for Green Tech . ... Mekeel Christian Academy rolled to a 71-45 victory against Fannie Lou Hamer of the Bronx in another nonleague contest. The Lions built a commanding 40-11 halftime advantage and never looked back on the way to the win.

Indoor track and field: Shaker won the boys’ event and Bethlehem won on the girls’ side at the weekly league meet at Union College. Kyler Alston (50 hurdles), Nathan Fazzone (pole vault) and Lorenzo Rizk (shot put) were individual winners for Shaker. Annie Bolke (1,500 meters), Sydney Gough (600 meters) and Kaitlyn Harris (1,000 meters) were individual winners for the Bethlehem girls. Jessica Baeckmann of Cairo-Durham won three individual events (50 hurdles, high jump, triple jump).

Boys’ ice hockey: Chase Rose scored two goals and assisted on another as La Salle thumped Albany Academy 5-0. Carter Irving made 32 saves to earn the shutout. Shaun Branon, Edward Donohue and Jake Lamb also scored for La Salle.
