The town of Halfmoon will serve a dinner, 4:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Halfmoon Senior Center, 287 Lower Newtown Road. The event also will feature music and trivia games. Tickets are available at the Halfmoon recreation office or the town clerk’s office. $10 per person and $8 for those 55 or older. Benefits the Character Counts Program that assists local families through the town’s food pantry and helps provide scholarshi­ps to children for the summer recreation program.

■ SUNY Empire State in Saratoga Springs has received a $1.69 million gift from the estate of late alumnus Robert Ehrmann (1978) to support student scholarshi­ps and initiative­s that further the college’s mission and expand access to education. This is the largest gift made to SUNY Empire, President Lisa Vollendorf said.

■ Troy High School announces a $15,000 donation from Hannaford Supermarke­ts to benefit the school’s food pantry. The donation allows the pantry to continue operating and growing to serve students and families. The pantry supports any student in need, with no income requiremen­ts and no questions asked.

■ The Wojeski Fund has exceeded a milestone in its efforts to brighten the holidays for local children in need. With fundraisin­g just concluded, it raised $90,000 in 2022, including $10,000 in matching funds provided by Wojeski & Co. CPAs of Colonie, which started the fund in 2004. It has surpassed $500,000 in contributi­ons, for a total of $560,000.

■ TCT Federal Credit Union recently provided support to the Ballston Spa Central School District with a $2,500 donation to be used toward the Scotties BackPack Program, Sponsor-a-Scholar program and Community Literacy efforts.

■ State Sen. Jim Tedisco recently presented the New York State Senate Liberty Medal, the Senate’s highest honor for service and valor, to the family of the late Vietnam War veteran John E. Hughes at the home of his widow, Judy Hughes, in Hadley. Hughes served as a radio teletype operator in Vietnam for 13 months. While stationed in the Central Highlands, he assisted in the transporta­tion of soldiers and supplies to and from bases and as a member of Reaction Force Patrols. He received the Army Commendati­on Medal for Heroism for saving a fellow soldier’s life.

■ American Legion Mohawk Post 1450 Commander John Lepine said the post made its annual Christmas donations of more than $13,500 to local charities and nonprofits last month. Contributi­ons of more than $8,000 support organizati­ons such as The Saratoga Center for the Family, Regional Food Bank, CAPTAIN Youth and Family Services, Make-a-Wish Foundation, Community Hospice, Double H Ranch and due to increasing need, St. Edward’s Church Food Pantry, Shenendeho­wa Helping Hands and other food pantries. The post donated more than $5,000 to Stratton V.A. Hospital’s Adaptive Sports Program and Veterans’ Holiday Committee, The National Honor Guard, and the Homeless Men’s and Women’s Veterans Facilities in Ballston Spa.
