In battle of CBA teams, Syracuse edges Albany

In a battle of upstate Catholic prep schools, Braeden Burns scored a gamehigh 23 points and Luke Boule added 16 more as CBA of Syracuse topped CBA of Albany 69-61 in a nonleague boys’ basketball game Saturday in Albany.

J.J. Osinski sank five 3-pointers to lead CBA of Albany with 18 points. J.T. Vogel added 13 points in the loss.

CBA of Syracuse led 36-34 at halftime and started the second half on a 17-6 run to take control of the game.

More boys’ basketball: Cobleskill held off visiting South Kortright 69-64 in a nonleague game. The Bulldogs jumped ahead 21-12 in the first quarter and used a 25-point fourth quarter outburst to extinguish any rally hopes for the Rams. Nick Peterson scored 22 points to lead Cobleskill. Connor Quarino had a game-high 26 points to lead South Kortright . ... Glens Falls outscored Maine-Endwell 16-6 in the third quarter to escape with a 60-55 nonleague win. Cooper Nadler had a game-high 19 points to lead the Indians.

Girls’ basketball: Shenendeho­wa improved its record to 13-3 with a 52-48 nonleague win over Champlain Valley Union (Vt.) in Clifton Park. Kaleigh Montanez scored 11 points and Grace Cozzens added 10 points to lead the Plainsmen to the victory.

Boys’ skiing: Host Lake Placid took the top spot at the Lake Placid Nordic Invitation­al at Mount Van Hoevenberg. Lake Placid finished with eight points, followed by Saranac Lake (21) in second and third-place Johnstown (46). Andrew Scanio of Lake Placid had the top individual time, finishing in 20 minutes, 22.8 seconds. Mayfield’s Brice Williams placed fourth in 22:33.8 to post the top local finishing time.
