Odutayo, Osinski lift CBA over La Salle
CBA erupted for 35 fourthquarter points and rallied past host La Salle 85-67 on Saturday in a nonleague boys’ basketball clash in Troy.
The Brothers began the final quarter trailing by a point, 51-50, before the outburst pushed them to a comfortable victory. Oreolawumpa Odutayo scored 13 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter to lead the CBA rally. Jayden Osinski had a team-best 22 points for the Brothers, who moved to 10-6 on the season.
Adam Myers scored a gamehigh 34 points and Davon Maloney added 17 points for La Salle, which had its five-game winning streak snapped and dipped to 10-8 overall.
More boys’ basketball: Mechanicville rolled over visiting Berlin/New Lebanon 61-29 in a Wasaren League game. James Doty had 14 points to help the Red Raiders pick up the win. Girls’ basketball: Stillwater raced out to a 41-6 halftime advantage and coasted past Johnstown 68-18 in a nonleague contest. Miranda Price scored 27 points and Ana Parella added 19 points to lead the Warriors. Julianna Hisert scored 13 points to lead Johnstown.
Indoor track and field: Shenendehowa’s Braiden Pulver won the shot put and teammate Evan Collette won the weight throw to help the Plainsmen clinch the Section II Division 1 boys’ championship. After the other events took place last weekend, all that was left was the throwing events, which Pulver won with a shot put of 51 feet, 31⁄2 inches while Collette was victorious in the weight throw at 64-41⁄4. Guilderland finished with 175 points, well ahead of second-place Saratoga Springs (100) to win the Division 1 girls’ title. Genevieve Duchaussee of Saratoga Springs won the shot put with an effort of 33-11 and Shenendehowa’s Hannah Thompson won the weight throw with a 31-13⁄4 toss.
