Krejcikova stuns No. 1 Swiatek
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Top-ranked Iga Swiatek was upset by Barbora Krejcikova 6-4, 6-2 in the final of the Dubai Championships.
Krejcikova became the fifth woman in the Open era to beat the world’s top three at the same event, also beating No. 3 Jessica Pegula in the quarterfinals and No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals.
Her previous title was in October, when she beat Swiatek for the first time in the Ostrava final.
Medvedev sweeps Murray for title

Baffert 2nd again in $20M race
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Panthalassa led all the way to win the $20 million Saudi Cup by three-quarters of a length, relegating trainer Bob Baffert’s horse, Country Grammer, to second for the second straight year.
In the richest race in the world, Taiba, the 8-5 favorite also trained by Baffert, was eighth in the field of 13.
Orange women roll in ACC opener
Megan Carney scored four goals to lead the No. 2 Syracuse women’s lacrosse team to a 16-4 win at Pittsburgh in both teams’ ACC opener and improving the Orange to 4-0 overall.
Schwarz wins tight giant slalom
OLYMPIC VALLEY, Calif. — Marco Schwarz of Austria won a tight giant slalom race as the men’s World Cup circuit made a stop at the Tahoe resort for the first time since 1969.
In fifth place after the opening run, Schwarz had a combined time of 2 minutes, 23.63 seconds to hold off Swiss star Marco Odermatt by 0.03 seconds. Rasmus Windingstad of Norway wound up third to earn his first World Cup podium finish since 2019.
It was Schwarz’s first World Cup win since a slalom race on Jan. 26, 2021, at Schladming, Austria.
Odermatt has now been on the podium in each of the past 14 World Cup giant slalom races he’s started.
Women’s downhill now Sunday
CRANS-MONTANA, Switzerland — A downhill race in the women’s World Cup was canceled after initially being delayed for two hours because of fog.
The downhill is now set for Sunday, taking the place of the super-G.

Potter said he’s been targeted by an anonymous email account.
