BU, Minnesota reach Frozen Four

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Ethan Phillips scored what proved to be the winning goal with 12:34 left as Boston University advanced to the Frozen Four after holding on for a 2-1 victory over Cornell in the Manchester Regional final on Saturday.

The Terriers will play No. 1 overall seed Minnesota, which won the Fargo (N.D.) Regional final 4-1 over St. Cloud State, on April 6 in the Frozen Four semifinals in Tampa, Fla.

Wilmer Skoog also scored and Drew Commesso made 13 saves for Boston University.

Dalton Bancroft scored with 28 seconds left for Cornell and goalie Ian Shane made 19 saves.

Jackson Lacombe, Jaxon Nelson and Logan Cooley each had a goal and an assist for Minnesota, and goalie Justen Close made 27 saves.

Gauff loses lead, ousted in Miami

Utah St. player in fair condition

Utah State redshirt freshman wide receiver Josh Davis is in fair condition, one day after collapsing at spring football practice following sudden cardiac arrest.

Davis, initially listed in critical condition, was breathing on his own. He is in the intensive-care unit.

No. 1 Syracuse women go to 11-0

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — No. 1 Syracuse lacrosse scored 50 seconds into the game and never looked back as it recorded a 17-5 victory at Louisville.

The Orange improved their overall record to 11-0 and their ACC mark to 5-0. Meaghan Tyrrell recorded seven points and moved into third place on Syracuse’s all-time points list with 366.
