You’ve come into a multi-million dollar gift. Which mansion would you choose?

- By Alexandra Zissu

Let’s play a fantasy game: You have $3 million (give or take) to buy a house in the Hudson Valley. Would you go for a large yet cozy Craftsman in New Paltz, a farmhouse with history and a guest house in Millbrook or an unfinished build in Warwick?

New Paltz: $3.375 million

28 Autumn Knoll, New Paltz. A six-bedroom, sevenbathroom, 7,996-squarefoot Craftsman home built in 1999 on 108 acres.

“It’s huge,” said Laurel Sweeney of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices

Nutshell Realty, noting that there are an additional 2,000 square feet on a finished lower level.

Despite its size, Sweeney says the home has a “nice comfy feel.” There are five fireplaces and panoramic views of the Shawangunk Ridge. The kitchen has two ovens and two dishwashers; this is a house meant for cooking and large gatherings. There’s also plenty of space to work from home, a library with custom detail, and reading nooks in most of the bedrooms.

Outside, there’s also a heated gunite pool, a oneacre pond, a screened porch and a large bluestone patio. There’s a three-car attached garage and a separate two-car garage with a climbing wall — fitting for the Ridgeadjacent location. The surrounding acres are mostly woods.

“This price point in Ulster County has a very small buyer pool, but I have had great interest,” said Sweeney. This includes people from New York City area and especially those who are going to have extended family and friends visit.

Millbrook: $2.7 million
