Embiid doubtful against Celtics

CAMDEN. N.J. — Philadelph­ia 76ers coach Doc Rivers says NBA MVP finalist Joel Embiid is doubtful for Game 1 of the playoff series against the Boston Celtics with a sprained right knee.

Embiid has yet to practice ahead of Monday’s Eastern Conference semifinals opener at Boston.

Embiid was hurt in Game 3 and missed the next game as Philadelph­ia swept Brooklyn in the first round.

Contenders cap Derby workouts

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky Derby points leader Forte clocked 49.80 seconds over four furlongs in the last major workouts for Derby contenders at Churchill Downs.

The chestnut colt with 190 qualifying points and six wins including the Florida Derby in seven career starts was among four horses trained by Hall of Famer Todd Pletcher to breeze ahead of the 149th Derby on May 6.

Arkansas Derby winner Angel of Empire (154 points), who leads four Derby entrants trained by Louisville native Brad Cox, clocked 1:01.4 over five furlongs.

Post draw for the Derby and Oaks with morning-line odds is Monday.

Cogliano has fracture in neck

DENVER — Colorado Avalanche forward Andrew Cogliano suffered a fracture in his neck during Game 6 in Seattle on Friday and is sidelined indefinite­ly, a source said.

He was hit into the boards from behind by the Kraken’s Jordan Eberle, who served a two-minute penalty for boarding but was not given a hearing for supplement­al discipline.

Game 7 is Sunday in Denver.

Medvedev, Sabalenka get wins

MADRID — Second-seeded Daniil Medvedev reached the third round of the Madrid Open by beating qualifier Andrea Vavassori 6-4, 6-3.

Second-ranked Aryna Sabalenka ousted No. 115 Camila Osorio 6-4, 7-5.

Toulouse wins French Cup title
