Eagles capture win in quarterfinals
Victory over Guilderland sets Bethlehem up to face Nisky in tennis semifinals
Bethlehem defeated Guilderland 8-1 on Saturday in a Section II Class AA boys’ tennis quarterfinal match.
The top-seeded Eagles now sit at 14-0 and will take on fourth-seeded Niskayuna on Monday in the semifinal round. The match begins at 4 p.m. in Bethlehem.
Aadi Ojha, Ian Jin, Armen Amirbekian, Aden Haas and Nyle Dennin all had singles victories and the pairs of David Bievenue and Owen Luntz, Liam Raleigh and Aneesh Jakkamsetti, and Brian Mocerine and Dylan Vuille provided doubles wins to lead the Eagles.
Shreyas Srivastav had a singles win for Guilderland.
More boys’ tennis: Queensbury advanced with a 7-0 victory over Troy in its Class A quarterfinal contest. The Spartans, who moved to 15-1 on the season, will host fifth-seeded Burnt Hills at 4 p.m. Monday in the semifinals. Skyler Allen, Will Lamy and Ryan Greenstein all had perfect straightsets wins to lead Queensbury.
Boys’ lacrosse: Saratoga Springs nipped Ballston Spa 13-12 in a Suburban clash. Tobey Diulio led the Blue Streaks with four goals while Peter Siracuse had six goals for Ballston Spa.
Baseball: Peyton Fall allowed just one hit to help Duanesburg to an 8-0 decision over Mekeel Christian in a Western Athletic Conference game. Fall struck out 15 and also had a double, a single and an RBI for the Eagles.
Softball: Eden Resch scattered four hits over seven innings and had two hits and an RBI to lead Stillwater to a 7-1 nonleague win over Galway. Resch struck out 10 to earn the win. Amber Kolpakas allowed five hits, four earned runs and struck out 12 in the circle for Galway.
