better about themselves.”

Cohoes fought back in the second quarter, led by the play from senior Marquay Tanksley (team-high 19 points), to trim its deficit to 44-33 at halftime. There would be no second-half heroics from the Tigers, however, as Glens Falls outscored Cohoes 50-11 over the final 16 minutes. The Black Bears knocked down 8 of 14 shots during the third quarter, including a trio of 3-pointers, to extend their lead to 69-40.

Brody Holcomb, a junior guard who scored two points in the first quarter, tallied 19 points in the second half as he drained four 3-pointers. He joined Lilac, who paced the Black Bears with five 3-pointers, with game-high scoring honors with 21 points.

“We have a lot of guys on our team that can score, so when we look for that extra pass — giving up a wideopen shot for a better one — and make them, I don’t think we can lose a game,”

Lilac said.

Driscoll proved to be an all-around nuisance for Cohoes as he finished with 18 points, 12 rebounds, five steals and four assists. Cooper Nadler added 14 points, six rebounds and three assists and eighth grader Aiden Prunty chipped in with 11 points and eight rebounds.

“The sky is the limit. If we are sharing the ball, hitting our shots and playing defense, I don’t think any team can beat us,” Lilac

said.

Glens Falls dropped a 7359 decision to Catholic Central in the 2023 Section II Class B final. Both squads are among 11 teams competing at the Class A level this winter.

“That’s what we’ve been focused on since two days after we lost to Catholic Central,” Driscoll said.

“This group gets after it. They bring it,” Girard said. “They don’t want another red patch (for being a sectional runner-up).”
