Shields scores 33 to pace Emma Willard

Emma Willard improved to 9-4 with a 62-49 win vs. Tamarac on Saturday in a Wasaren League girls’ basketball contest.

Audrey Shields, who scored her 1,000th career point on Thursday against Mechanicvi­lle, kept things rolling with a game-high 33 points to lead Emma Willard. Allison Opaku added 10 points for the Jesters, who are 7-4 in Wasaren play.

More girls’ basketball: Mya Nolan scored 14 points to lead Hudson Falls to a 47-31 win over Johnstown in a Foothills Council Showcase game at Washington Avenue Armory. Mollie Kortz paced Johnstown with nine points. The Panthers jumped out to a 28-12 lead by halftime and cruised to the win . ... La Salle outscored Ravena 19-1 in a pivotal second quarter to win 48-35 in a Colonial Council match-up. Kate Gilooly and Moira Galuski had 17 points apiece to lead the La Salle effort. Patricia Dorrance scored 14 for Ravena . ... Molly Shaver scored 18 points and Emily Edwards added 14 points as Berne-Knox coasted to a 67-17 win over Waterford . ... South Glens Falls rallied past Amsterdam 38-35 in another Foothills Council Showcase matchup. The Bulldogs trailed 33-28 heading into the fourth quarter but outscored the Rams 10-2 to finish on top. Jordan Wolfe had 14 points to lead the South Glens Falls comeback.

Wrestling: Salem/Cambridge claimed the Section II Division 2 Class 3 crown with 260 points. Warrensbur­g/Lake George was second with 198 and Maple Hill was third (143 points). Jonah Stevens (101 pounds), Luke LeBlanc (108), Henry Dill (131) and Camden Hill (285) won their weight classes to lead Salem/Cambridge.
