LATHAM — Edna M. Johnson of Latham passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 13, 2018.

Born on April 28, 1929, in Rochester, Edna was the daughter of the late Robert J. and Anne (Marshall) Piddington. At one time Edna was a medical receptioni­st with CHP in Latham. She then took a position with Community Health Care in Latham in the physical therapy department.

Edna is survived by her loving children, Laura A. (Mark) Czolowski, Robert D. (Sheryl) Hale, Richard A. (Sue) Hale and Deborah L. (John) Maggio; as well as several grandchild­ren, greatgrand­children, great-greatgrand­children and beloved pets, Teddy and Casey. She is also survived by her brothers, Donald (Joanna) Piddington and Kenneth (Molly) Peddington; and dear friend, Suzanne O’loughlin. She was predecease­d by husband, Richard P. Johnson; and daughter, Wendy.

Edna’s memorial gathering will take place on Thursday May 17, from 12-1:30 p.m. at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham with a memorial service following the gathering at 1:30 p.m. with Father Patric Legato officiatin­g. Inurnment will take place in Memory Gardens, Colonie at the convenienc­e of the family.

In 2002, he retired to St. Joseph Center and continued his lifelong photograph­y hobby. Diagnosed with lung cancer about a year ago, he did well with treatment, and up until last week was still walking about the property, with his everpresen­t camera about his neck, taking pictures of nature scenes.

At St. Joseph Center in Valatie, a prayer service will be held at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 17. An 11 a.m. funeral Mass will be said on Friday, May 18, followed by burial in the community cemetery. Bernie was actively involved in the Boy Scouts and Camp Rotary in Poestenkil­l for over 40 years; and was also an avid collector and historian of Native American goods and culture, and over the years did numerous presentati­ons for schools across the Capital District.

Bernie is survived by his loving wife, Rose M. (Matero) Quimby, whom he married on October 25, 1953; his two sons, Richard V. (Catherine) Quimby of Pittsboro, N.C. and Vernard "Jay" F. Quimby (Laura Spaulding) of North Greenbush; and a daughter, Phyllis Quimby-hesler (Jeffrey) of Rotterdam. He is also survived by his two loving granddaugh­ters, Samantha J. Hesler and Rachel L. Quimby; two sisters, Catherine Himick of Yonkers and Marilyn Quadrini of Slingerlan­ds; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, on Wednesday, May 16, from 1 - 3 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 3 p.m. Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. y , 1930, in Johnson City, N.Y., to the late Marvin Walter Riggins and Fannie Elizabeth Gathany.

Wally graduated from Hallstead High School in Pennsylvan­ia in 1949. He served as a United States Navy Seabee during the Korean War in Guam. Following his time in the service, Mr. Riggins worked for New York Telephone Company and retired from AT&T after 30 years as regional sales manager. Wally and his wife, Barbara, moved to Vero Beach in 1985 from Delmar and he became very active in the Grove Isle Condominiu­m Associatio­n.

He leaves his memories to be cherished by his wife of 64 years, Barbara; sons, Wesley (Terry) Riggins of Orinda, Calif., Walter Riggins of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Jeffrey Riggins of Delmar; six grandchild­ren and one great-granddaugh­ter.

At the request of Mr. Riggins, there will be no services.
