Drugmaker to add campus, expand at tech park.

Regeneron is growing so quickly that it can’t find space fast enough.

The Tarrytown-based drugmaker announced last week that it plans to spend $800 million expanding and adding 1,500 jobs at a second campus in East Greenbush that’s currently under construction a few miles away from its current manufacturing location next to the University at Albany’s School of Public Health off routes 9 and 20.

Regeneron is also looking to expand at the East Greenbush Technology Park, where it currently shares office space with the software company Autotask, the Albany Business Review reported last week.

Under a plan approved last week by the Rensselaer County Industrial Development Agency, Regeneron would buy an existing building at 26 Tech Valley Drive that it currently leases with Autotask.

Autotask would move into a new building that would be built at 33 Tech Valley Drive.

Regeneron does all of its U.S. manufacturing in East Greenbush at its existing campus next to the University at Albany’s Health Sciences Campus, which includes Ualbany’s School of Public Health.

Regeneron’s second campus is being built closer to I-90 on Tempel Lane. The company is planning 800,000 square feet of

warehouse, research and manufacturing space on 119 acres. The site will be home to 1,500 employees when completed. The Cuomo administration is offering the company $140 million in state incentives for the $800 million project.

Earlier this summer, Regeneron told the Rensselaer County IDA that it was interested in buying 26 Tech Valley Drive for an undisclosed amount from the building’s owner, Greenbush Associates.
