WATERFORD — Craig A. Lanning, 68, entered into eternal life on September 12, 2018, with his loving family by his side.

He was the son of the late Charles E. and Fonda T. Lanning. He grew up in Ohio working on a dairy farm until he moved to New York in 1963. Craig attended Shaker High School and graduated in 1968. Prior to his retirement, Craig worked at General Electric, Sager Spuck and Hanes Industrial Supply. He was a master carpenter and enjoyed creating and building many different projects.

In his free time, Craig loved golf, going camping and taking scenic joy rides on his beloved Goldwing motorcycle. He always wore the biggest smile when speaking of his children or grandchild­ren. Family time was something that Craig always cherished and looked forward to more than anything.

Craig was predecease­d by his first wife, Ruth C. Lester; his second wife Kathleen J. Lanning; and his late partner in life Sandra J. Tanner. He is survived by his sister, Valois (Frank) Berger; sister-inlaw, Karen Diener; and brothers-in-law, Robert (Carol) Diener and William (Kathryn) Diener. He leaves behind four children, Christine (Steve) Breton, Judith Miller, Stephanie (Jeffrey) Geller and Matthew (Allison Aber) Lanning. His beloved grandchild­ren, Nicholas Breton, Madison Breton, Jillian Miller, Maya Miller and Mckinley Geller. He was the uncle of several nieces and nephews and enjoyed spending time with life-long friends, Earl and Kathie Cross and their two children.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie, on Friday, September 21, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 12 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery.

Craig had a love for animals and leaves behind six granddogs, Cooper, Jackson, Mia, Ike, Sigmund and Cooper. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave, Menands, NY, 12204, in Craig’s memory.
