GLENMONT — Dorothy Jean (Vunk) Mann "Dottie", 92, passed away on September 14, 2018, at the Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home with her loving family by her side. Dottie was born August 31,1926, in Gloversvil­le, N.Y. to the late Anthony E. and Frances S. (Curtiss) Vunk.

Dorothy was educated in the Johnstown New York School System and was a graduate of the Ellis Hospital Training School for Nurses in 1947. She married the love of her life, George O. Mann, in 1948. She was his devoted wife until his death in 1993. Dorothy practiced nursing profession in Pennsylvan­ia and Vermont. After the birth of her daughter, the family moved to Delmar in 1958, where she resided until her passing. There Dorothy practiced her profession at Albany Medical Center from 1958 as a part time staff RN, assuming a position as a part time nursing supevisor in 1973, retiring in 1987. Dorothy had a passion for patient care and she considered her nursing career to be one of her most important and satisfying achievemen­ts. After retirement, she spent time in Florida in the winters with her husband at their home in Lakeland until she was widowed in 1993. She assisted in the care of her grandchild­ren when their mother went back to work. This created a bond that the grandchild­ren will always cherish. Dorothy so loved her family and we cherished her.
