Once Linium, now Alaant

Colonie recruitment firm changes name, expands list of services

- By Larry Rulison

Sometimes a name change is just a name change.

But for Linium Recruiting, a name change means much more.

Based on Wolf Road in Colonie, Linium Recruiting has changed its name to Alaant Workforce Solutions as part of an overhaul of its brand by another local company, id29, a brand strategy and design firm based in Troy.

For practical purposes Linium Recruiting had to take on a new name after its information technology unit, Linium Consulting, was acquired last year by Ness Technologies.

But Miriam Dushane, managing director of what is now Alaant, says the name change is also part of an evolution of the company to offer a broader array of services to its clients.

Those new services include so-called employer brand strategies, which is branding that helps companies attract and retain their employees.

That new service will be handled in partnership with id29.

The other new service that Alaant will offer its clients is in-house recruitment expertise for-hire, what it calls “talent acquisition partnerships.”

Essentially, one of Alaant’s employees will work on-site at a customer location to help with a big hiring push, becoming an extended part of the customer’s human resources team.

And the Alaant employee will charge by the hour, making it a much more affordable solution than if the company were to hire a new HR worker or use the traditional recruiting process that charges fees based on the salary of each employee that its recruited.

“We are thrilled to unveil our new name, which reflects a modern approach to recruiting that gives employers a competitive edge in attracting the best and brightest employees,” Dushane said. “Combined with our longstanding commitment to personalized service and integrity, we are well-positioned to help companies build winning teams that drive productivity and profitability.”
