Steelers coach Mike Tomlin intends to talk to receiver Antonio Brown about venting on Twitter.
Steelers coach Tomlin to speak with star WR about social media use
Mike Tomlin doesn’t like talking about the way his players use social media. The Pittsburgh Steelers coach would prefer to stick to football.
Antonio Brown, however, isn’t giving his boss much choice.
Tomlin said he plans to speak to the All-pro wide receiver “directly” after Brown caused a bit of a commotion — again — by taking to Twitter to vent after a former team employee suggested Brown’s stardom is a result of playing with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
Brown responded by tweeting “trade me let’s find out.” When asked Tuesday if one of the NFL’S most dynamic players has asked to be moved, Tomlin responded “no, no” and laughed.
Still, Tomlin believes the seemingly incessant inquiries about Brown’s online behavior is growing tiresome.
“It’s important that we understand our position, the light that shines on us and the responsibility that comes with it,” Tomlin said.
Tomlin plans to provide Brown with a reminder on Wednesday when the team returns to practice. He wasn’t able to on Monday because Brown did not show up for work.
Tomlin declined to say whether Brown’s absence was excused, though in the past Tomlin has typically offered an explanation when a player is out. bills: The mother of Lesean Mccoy’s son says she agreed to defend the Bills running back against an allegation he abused the boy even though she says she knew the accusation was true. In a three-page document filed in Fulton County State Court in Georgia, Stephanie Maisonet said Tuesday she reluctantly agreed to the deal in exchange for Mccoy offering to drop a custody case and allow her to enroll their 6-year-old son in a school in Miami. Maiisonet says she previously filed a report with child services — she did not say where or when — after her son would come home bruised and crying after visiting Mccoy. Mccoy calls Maisonet’s allegations “provably false, outrageously inaccurate and offensive,” in a statement on his Twitter account . ... Buffalo signed cornerback Ryan Lewis off their practice squad to address a position depleted after Vontae Davis abruptly left the team last weekend. The Bills initially claimed Lewis off waivers on Sept. 2 after he spent last season on the Patriots practice squad. The Bills cut Lewis on Sept. 12 before re-signing him to their practice squad a day later. Davis quit the Bills during halftime of their 31-20 loss to the Chargers on Sunday, and then announced he was retiring a few hours later. Vikings: The Minnesota Vikings have signed kicker Dan Bailey, owner of the second-best field goal percentage in NFL history and replacement for rookie Daniel Carlson. Bailey’s deal was done Tuesday, after the Vikings waived Carlson fresh from his 0-for-3 game at Green Bay.
Chargers: Defensive tackle Corey Liuget has sued the trainer who he says is responsible for his four-game suspension for using a performanceenhancing substance. Liuget filed suit against Ian Danney and his Arizonabased business in Los Angeles, asking for a jury trial and no less than $15 million in damages. Liuget says in the suit that Danney injected him with a substance banned by the FDA and the NFL. He also says Danney gave him another product that required a prescription which Liuget did not have. A message left with Danney’s office was not returned.
Cowboys: Re-signed veteran receiver Brice Butler, who had left Dallas in free agency last spring but was released by the Cardinals before the season. Dallas released rookie safety Tyree Robinson to make room on its roster for Butler.
