LANESBOROU­GH, Mass. — Robert C. Shier, 73, passed away unexpected­ly at Berkshire Medical Center on Saturday, September 15, 2018, surrounded by his loving wife, family and friends. Bob was born in Troy on September 16, 1944. He was the son of the late Nathan T. and Marguerite Teal Shier; and loving husband to Marcia (Mccauley) Shier.

Bob was raised in Sand Lake and graduated from Averill Park High School in 1961. His love for agricultur­e started with his uncle John and aunt Mae on their family farm, which grew into a successful career with Beck’s Wholesale Florist, Shier’s Florist and Greenhouse­s, Groves Fancy Ferns Co. and Williams Florist. He then went on to purchase Viale Floral Co., in 1976 which he ran until selling his legacy to his daughter, Michele. He remained owner of Wahconah Street Greenhouse Inc., where he worked side by side with his wife Marcia until he sold it in 2006. He continued to be a great asset to both businesses until his passing.

Bob was the past president of the Northeaste­rn Teleflora Regional District, member of the Capital District Regional Farmers Market in Menands and served on the Board of Directors for Farm Credit.

He was an avid sportsman, enjoying yearly hunting trips to Colorado with his son Bill and many good friends. Bob was involved in various organizati­ons including being past president of the Averill Park Fish and Game Club and a member of the Stephentow­n Valley Rod & Gun Club.

After his retirement, he enjoyed, traveling with his wife, children and their families. He especially enjoyed playing miniature golf with his grandchild­ren.

He is survived by his wife Marcia; his children, Robert C. (Shelby) Shier Jr. of Tustin, Calif., Michele Shier of Dalton, Mass., William (Susan) Shier of Loveland, Colo., Melissa (Eric) Moore of Stafford, Va. and Ryan (Michelle) Barzousky of Lanesborou­gh, Mass.; his brother Gordon N. (Linda) Shier of Tavares, Fla., 17 grandchild­ren and one greatgrand­son.

Calling hours for family and friends will be on Friday, September 21, from 4-7 p.m. at Perry-komdat Funeral Chapel, 2691 New York 43, Averill Park. Church services will be held at 11 a. m. on Saturday, September 22, in Berkshire First Church of the Nazarene 165 North St., Dalton, Mass.

She was known for cooking her pasta fagioli on Friday and her pasta on Sundays to feed any and all who stopped by. For Christmas Eve dinner Rosie cooked her famous seven fish meal and the entire family and neighborho­od would gather to celebrate, where she might be found using her favorite line “Shut up Bob!” Rosie will truly be missed by everyone who knew her and loved her.

Rosie is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, Joseph Robert “Teso” Teson; her children, Sharon “Cissy” (the late Doug Smith) O’connell, Joseph R. “Buzzy” (Jeanne) Teson Jr., Mark (Susan) Teson, Patrick Teson, Michael Teson and Tami (Frank) Chrysler; sonin-law, Robert Butler; 17 grandchild­ren, 24 greatgrand­children and five greatgreat-grandchild­ren; her siblings, Andy Aiezza, Mary Triolo and Sal “Sonny” Aiezza. In addition to her parents, Rosie was predecease­d by her daughter, Linda Teson Butler and her siblings, Pasquale “Patsy” Aiezza who was killed during World War II, Carmen Aiezza, Lucy Sheldon, Jennie Stumph, Anna Mottolese and Betty Holmes.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Rosie’s special caretakers, Sharon “Cissy” O’connell, Michael Teson, Tami Chrysler and Frankie Chrysler Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Rosie on Friday, September 21, at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 2416 7th Ave., Watervliet. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Parker Bros. Memorial Funeral Home, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet.
