Dems, Republicans are polar opposites
Which is the party that favors the 1 percent over the rest of us who are trying to get by? Which supports health care protections for all and which has undercut the goal of universal health care? Which has given tax cuts to the rich when poor and middle-class people are struggling with debt?
Which has promoted the infusion of money into politics, the influence of Washington lobbyists, while undermining the voice of ordinary citizens through voting restrictions and gerrymandered districts? Which party has removed protections that would prevent another Great Recession? Which party is serious about making college affordable and which promotes scams like Trump University? Which party routinely stokes peoples’ fears and which appeals to their hopes for a united future? Which party has specialized in mean-spirited attacks and unquestioningly supports a president who has no political experience, no moral compass and no positive vision?
Which party has undermined our standing as the moral leader of the free world and silently stood by as the president cozies up to dictators and does little to promote alliances between democratic nations? Which party will address climate change and which denies the overwhelming scientific evidence? Which party considers the concerns of women, particularly around issues of sexual harassment and the right to choose?
Which takes public safety seriously rather than cowering before the National Rifle Association?
The difference between our political parties could never be more apparent. Our vote matters like never before. We can’t be passive. It is up to us. We need to vote. David r. Karp, PH.D.
