CLIFTON PARK — Alice Lailer, 79, of Clifton Park passed away at Samaritan Hospital in Troy on September 19, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Alice, the fourth of 12 children was born on May 9, 1939, to Elgee E. Brice and Elmer E. Darling. She attended Portland public schools and worked as a waitress for many years before retiring from Pratt Abbott Cleaners in 2001.

Alice was a very caring person and was known for always thinking of others before herself. She was loved by anyone that knew her, especially her large family. She most enjoyed being surrounded by her family, and could always be found playing bingo or cards with her family members.

She was predecease­d by her parents; her sister, Eleanor E. “Ellie” Voisine; and her brothers, William M. Darling Sr., George R. Darling, Steven A. Darling, Peter A. Darling, Frederick Darling and John G. Darling.

Alice is survived by her son, Steven A. Lailer of Watervilie­t; son, Michael A. Lailer and his wife Robin of Saratoga; daughter, Kimberswee­per

g g ly A. Mulhern and her husband Richard of Standish, Maine; her son, Kevin M. Lailer of Voorehsvil­le; and daughter, Julie A. Bruni and her husband Michael of Limington, Maine; brothers, James E. Darling of Steep Falls, Maine, David M. Darling and his wife Elizabeth of Scarboroug­h, Maine; sisters, Arlene Casey of Alfred, Maine and Carolyn E. “Callie” Carson of Portland, Maine; 16 grandchild­ren, 11 great-grandchild­ren and many nieces and nephews.

A private ceremony for the family will be held at Forest City Cemetery in South Portland, Maine on Friday, October 5, at 2:30 p.m. The family invites family and friends to then join them in a celebratio­n of life for Alice at Keeley’s Banquet Center on Warren Avenue in Portland, Maine from 4 – 6 p.m.

Arrangemen­ts are by Simple Choices, Inc., A Cremation & Funeral Service.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Diabetes Associatio­n in memory of Alice Lailer. Donations can be made online, via the phone or thru the postal service.

Her family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the doctors and staff at New York Oncology Hematology of Clifton Park, the nursing staff at Samaritan Hospital, Troy, and Kate Hanley and Mary Maloney for the loving support they provided to her during her battle with cancer.
