DEL­MAR — Noreen M. “Ree­nie” Sher­man, 89, of Del­mar died Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 10, 2018, at St. Peter’s Hospi­tal fol­low­ing a brief ill­ness.

She was born in Syra­cuse, the daugh­ter of the late Richard T. and Mar­ion E. Ma­honey. Ree­nie grad­u­ated from St. An­thony’s School in Syra­cuse and fol­low­ing World War II mar­ried her life­long sweet­heart Paul F. Sher­man. Her Catholic faith was a cen­tral fea­ture of her life, first at St. James Parish in Syra­cuse where she was an ac­tive mem­ber of the Al­tar Rosary So­ci­ety, and then at St. Thomas the Apos­tle parish in Del­mar. She loved shar­ing her Ir­ish wit with fam­ily and friends and was a for­mi­da­ble card player spe­cial­iz­ing in pitch and bridge. She was a ded­i­cated blood donor for the Amer­i­can Red Cross for many years. Hers was a full life... well lived.

Sur­vivors in­clude her chil­dren, Paul J. (Mary) Sher­man of Schoharie, Michael R. Sher­man of Ecuador, Kath­leen A. (Stephen) Sut­ter of Del­mar, Mar­garet M. (Stan­ley) Wong of Fort Pierce, Fla. and Mary T. Bergquist of Clifton Park; grand­chil­dren, Paul S. Sher­man, Pa­tri­cia Rob­bins, Cor­rie Schrader, Meghan Cater, Lau­ren Nel­son, Gre­gory Wong, Peter and Pa­trick Bergquist and Sarah Wong; and eight great­grand­chil­dren. She was pre­de­ceased by her hus­band Paul F. Sher­man in 2014 and her sib­lings, Ann Eich­ler, Richard Ma­honey and John Ma­honey.

A fu­neral Mass will be cel­e­brated 9:30 a.m. Mon­day, Oc­to­ber 15, in St. Thomas the Apos­tle Church, 35 Adams Pl., Del­mar. In­ter­ment will fol­low in Our Lady Help of Chris­tians Ceme­tery, Glen­mont. There will be no call­ing hours.
