Kyle Palmieri scored two goals for the third straight game and the New Jersey Devils rallied from their first deficits of the season to beat the San Jose Sharks 3-2 on Sunday.

Jean-sebastien Dea capped the two-goal, third-period outburst with the game winner at 3:25 and former Union College standout Keith Kinkaid made 37 saves as the Devils started the season with three straight wins for the second straight year.

Joe Pavelski and Timo Meier scored for the Sharks, who are heading home after a five-game road trip. Martin Jones made 33 saves as San Jose lost to New Jersey for the third time in its last 11 games.

Palmieri has six goals in three games, just four behind league leader Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs, who has 10 in six contests.

“Whatever he’s doing, he’s got to keep doing it. Two goals a game every night,” Kinkaid said, referring to Palmieri, not Matthews.

John Hynes coached his 249th game with the Devils, moving in third place in team history. Coincidently, he moved out of a tie with Pete Deboer, currently the head coach of the Sharks.

Ducks 3, Blues 2: Ben Street and Andrew Cogliano scored third-period goals, Ryan Miller made 29 saves, and Anaheim rallied to beat St. Louis. Jakob Silfverberg also scored for the Ducks. Alexander Steen and Tyler Bozak scored for the Blues, and Vladimir Tarasenko had a pair of assists. Chad Johnson made 28 saves in his debut for St. Louis, which fell to 1-2-2 to start the season.

Jets 3, Hurricanes 1: Bryan Little broke a tie with 2:09 left and Winnipeg beat Carolina. Patrick Laine scored at 4:14 of the third period, and Kyle Connor added an empty-net goal with a second left for Winnipeg. Laurent Brossoit stopped 42 shots, allowing only Micheal Ferland’s tying goal. Carolina’s Petr Mrazek made 23 saves.
