The Evangelist editor to leave
The editor of the Capital Region’s Roman Catholic diocesan newspaper, The Evangelist, is stepping down after a 25-year career there.
Kate Blain started as an intern, worked as a reporter, managing editor, and then editor for the past seven years for the weekly, 34,000-circulation paper.
She put in her resignation this week, said Mary De Turris Poust, diocesan spokeswoman and associate publisher of the newspaper.
“Bishop (Ed) Scharfenberger remains committed to our diocesan publication and will continue to work with our staff and Board members to find ways to make The Evangelist even more compelling and relevant, not only for our print subscribers but for the vast digital audience that remains largely untapped,” Poust said in a statement.
Blain offered to remain for a transition period, Poust said, expected to be about a month.
