Dibell, Thomas Daniel

-

ALBANY — Thomas Daniel Dibell, 63 of Albany, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on November 9, 2018, at St. Peter’s Hospital, where he still managed to keep everyone laughing.

Tom was born on March 18, 1955, to Daniel and Dorothy (Fleming) Dibell in Troy, the second of four children. He graduated from Lansingburgh High School in 1973.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Flooddibell; daughter Alissa (Kim) Dibell; sons, Andrew Dibell, Thomas Dibell, Jamie Flood, and Justin Flood; grandchildren, Sophia, Justin Jr., and Aidan Flood; sister Ann Chiera; brother Christopher (Janice) Dibell; numerous loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Timothy J. Dibell.

Right out of high school, Tom began his career as an autobody specialist, growing to be exceptionally skilled and in demand for his meticulous work. Even when he retired, his incredible work ethic and inability to sit still brought him back to Jefferson Motors routinely to help out, where he worked for many years. Tom enjoyed life, spending time with his family and friends, bowling, and cheering on the N.Y. Giants. Tom was adored by everyone he knew, always with a smile on his face and a joke on his lips. Tom will be forever loved and missed.

Tom and his family extend heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at St. Peter’s Hospital, the staff at Albany Memorial he entertained during infusions, and the caring nurses and doctors at NYOH.

Friends are invited to visit with the family and celebrate his life on Wednesday, November 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Mcveigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen St., Albany.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Red Cross.
