Gillisslee’s 3 a key in Mohonasen win

Basket at the buzzer gives Mighty Warriors a victory over Colonie

Shawn Gillisslee nailed a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give defending Class A champion Mohonasen a 50-48 home win over Colonie on Thursday in a Suburban Council boys’ basketball game.

Duncan Tallman scored 23 points and Chase Monroe added 15 to lead the Mighty Warriors.

Tallman poured in 15 points in the first quarter as Mohonasen built a three-point lead.

Tallman didn’t score a point in the second quarter as Colonie outscored Mohonasen, 15-6 to take a 27-21 edge at halftime.

Tallman scored eight in the third quarter as Mohonasen erased the deficit with a 17-6 run.

Marcus Shelton led Colonie with 17 points.

Girls’ basketball: Ashlyn o’neal scored a game-high 24 points to spark Scotia to a 54-44 win over Johnstown in a foothills Council game. o’neal scored 13 in the first half to help stake the tartans to a 23-17 lead by halftime. Amber tesi led Johnstown with 13 points . .... Hailey Ballard scored a game-high 21 points to lead Queensbury to a 56-33 win over Hudson falls. Brinley inglee led the tigers with 17 points.
