Fontenelle-posson carries Guilderland
Sophomore scores 29 to lead Dutchmen past Bethlehem
Valencia Fontenelle-posson was the only double-digit scorer for Guilderland, which still pulled out a 53-49 Suburban Council road win at Bethlehem.
The Dutchmen sophomore guard had 29 points, including three 3-pointers and an 8-for-11 showing at the line. Guilderland held a 39-35 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Bethlehem’s Julia Harvey had a team-high 11 points in the defeat. Bethlehem made eight more shots from the field (17-9) but the Eagles had half as many 3-point makes (three) and were outshot at the foul line by 13 points. Guilderland went 17-for25 at the charity stripe to start the season with a win.

Natalie Prian led the Silver Warriors with 14 points . ... Kelsey Wood scored 27 points to lead Averill Park to a 61-51 win over Ballston Spa in a Suburban Council game. Emmalee Morgan added 13 points for the Warriors. Sierra Delaney dropped in 15 points for Ballston Spa.
Boys’ basketball: Messiah Mallory scored 29 points to lead Watervliet to a 76-53 victory over host Catholic Central in a Colonial Council contest . ... Cobleskill’s 68-59 overtime win against Voorheesville included quarterback standout Donovan Pacatte scoring seven of his 19 points in the extra period. Steven Maniscalco scored six of his team-high 17 in overtime, while Joe Saia led Voorheesville with a team-high 16 points in the loss . ... Adam Winchell hit a 3-pointer with 2.5 seconds left to give Fort Ann a 46-44 win over Saranac. Luke Loso led the Cardinals with 18 points. Winchell chipped in with 13 points . ... Michael Ortale had a game-high 19 points as Bethlehem stormed past Guilderland in Suburban play. Bethlehem had a 20-12 scoring advantage in the final eight minutes to win, 70-60. … Gloversville’s Joseph Rowback had a game-high 23 points and Dante Bouchard chipped in with 22 as the Dragons ousted Democracy Prep at a tournament in Manhattan (at Columbia Prepatory), 68-56. The pair combined for four 3-pointers, while they also were a perfect 13-for-13 at the foul line.
