WATERVLIET — Mary Theresa Cook-cassidy peacefully entered into eternal rest at Albany Medical Center on November 28, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.

Mary Theresa was born on April 4, in Troy. She was a graduate of Watervliet High School and Hudson Valley Community College. She was employed by Internal Playtex Company for 32 years, and then completed her career with the New York State Department of Labor until her retirement. Mary Theresa was predecease­d by her parents, William and Margaret Keenan Cook; and her brother John Cook of Watervliet. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 46 years, James Cassidy and their daughter, Dr. Rachel Ann Cassidy, who she supported in every endeavor, who she was so proud of and always wished good things for; her daughter-in-law, Robin Trudeau; her sisters, Donna Decker (Ronald Laraway) of Schenectad­y, and Margaret Murdick (Michael) of Peoria, Ariz.; brothers, William Cook (Cathy) of Malta, Robert Cook (Cathy) of Watervliet, James Cook (Janis) of Cohoes, Thomas Cook (Anna) of Troy, Michael Cook of Watervliet, Daniel Cook (Linda) of Watervliet and Andre Cook (Stacey) of Austin, Texas; brother-inlaw, Anthony Cassidy (Marilyn Laparl) of Watervliet; sister-in-law, Shirley Stone of Clifton Park, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Mary Theresa loved to travel, cook, play bingo and watch her daughter and family participat­e in sporting events. She loved animals and will miss her granddog, Finnegan, the hound. She was an avid supporter of the Catholic Church, the Boy and Girl Scouts of America, Susan G Komen Society, American Cancer and Heart Associatio­ns, Easter Seals, the Albany Rescue Mission, and the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.

Mary Theresa loved her family so much and was proud of each and every one of them. She will be remembered for the love, generosity, and kindness she showed everyone every day of her life.

Mary Theresa wanted her family and friends to know and remember that obstacles in your path are not obstacles, they are the path. She lived by these words.

The funeral Mass will be on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 2416 7th Avenue, Watervliet. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watervliet. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet on Monday from 4-7 p.m. Contributi­ons may be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY, 12204.
