Fourth-quarter rally stops Saints
St. Bonaventure uses 12-2 run to break open game
St. Bonaventure pulled away late in the game to beat Siena 74-58 Friday in a women’s basketball game in Allegany.
The Bonnies outscored the Saints 22-8 in the fourth quarter. St. Bonaventure used a 12-2 run. Deja Francis and Mckenna Maycock nailed 3-pointersinthe run that ended with St. Bonaventure leading 6652 with 5:20 remaining.
Deja Rawls and Maddie Sims had layups early to give Siena a 4-0 edge, its largest lead of the game. St. Bonaventure then reeled off an 11-0 run. Bree Paulson and Mckenna Maycock sank back-to-back 3s to cap the spurt and Siena played from behind most of the game from there.
Sims led Siena with 15 points.
Francis scored 20 and Asinae Johnson and Dajah Logan each contributed 15 points for St. Bonaventure.
Siena twice trimmed a double-digit deficit to two in the third quarter and briefly pulled even when Amari Anthony scored to tie the game at 47.
Danielle Migliore made a 3-pointer to give the Bonnies the lead for good.
