En­gi­neers hockey drops 4th straight

Late RPI rally falls short in con­fer­ence bat­tle against Yale

Justin Pear­son tal­lied three points to lead Yale to a 4-2 win over RPI on Fri­day in a men’s hockey game at In­galls Rink in New Haven, Conn.

The En­gi­neers (4-10, 3-4) have dropped four straight and fell be­low .500 in ECAC play. Once again they strug­gled to gen­er­ate shots on goal.

Pear­son scored an even­strength goal just 1:06 into the game to get the Bull­dogs rolling.

Phil Kemp scored a power play goal five min­utes later to ex­tend the lead. Pear­son as­sisted on the goal.

The Bull­dogs (6-2-2, 5-2-1) out­shot the En­gi­neers, 13-3, in the first pe­riod.

Pa­trick Polino net­ted his fourth of the sea­son 7:44 into the sec­ond pe­riod to pull RPI within a goal, but Pear­son re­stored’s Yale two-goal mar­gin less than two min­utes later. Evan Smith scored for Yale and Brady Ferner for RPI in the third pe­riod.

Yale out­shot RPI, 3516, in the game. Corbin Kaczper­ski made 14 saves to earn the win. Owen Sa­vory made 31 stops in RPI’S net.
