Restoring film star airplane
Integra Optics CEO David Prescott stands next to his Tora 101 Japanese Zero replica that he is restoring in an Albany International Airport hangar Friday in Colonie.
The plane was once used by the Canadian military before appearing in two Hollywood films: “Tora! Tora! Tora!” about Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor and “Midway” about the WWII battle. It also flew in the “Baa Baa Black Sheep” TV series about Marine Attack Squadron 214 . The aircraft was converted from a Canadian Car & Foundry Harvard IV.
