Small fire contained at Albany County jail

COLONIE - A small fire broke out in the kitchen at the Albany County jail but the flames were quickly extinguished.

Sheriff Craig Apple said the fire alarm was pulled at 7:50 a.m. after one of the institutional skillets caught fire. Corrections staff put out the flames and the kitchen was being cleaned Friday morning with the expectation lunch would be served.
