American Girl Tea with Samantha Parkington,
Schenectady County Historical Society, 32 Washington Ave., Schenectady. 2 p.m. $8. An elegant holiday tea party with the Festival of Trees making a glittering holiday backdrop for the occasion. Baked goods, stories and a wintry craft to take home.
Candy Houses,
Clifton Park-halfmoon Public Library, 475 Moe Road, Clifton Park. 1 p.m. Free. Families with children ages 4-9 and siblings can listen to “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” by Clement C. Moore and songs of the season. Then make a candy house to take home and help to create a candy library. Two sessions; morning or afternoon.
Exploring Books and their Writers through Film — Little Women,
Troy Public Library, 100 2nd St., Troy. 1 p.m. Free. This month’s book is “Little Women” (2018 BBC and Masterpiece theater production, 176 minutes). Retired Siena College professor Tom Bulger leads the discussion.
